8 Board Games You Can Play With 10+ Players

I was talking with my coworker while at work one day, and we were talking about a party that he threw over the weekend. He was talking to me about how he didn’t have many board games for his guests to play at the party and how he invited at least ten people. He said that he looked and couldn’t find a list of board games that could be played by 10 players. So, I did some research and found these board games.

What are 8 games you can play with 10+ players?

  1. Curses
  2. Codenames
  3. Pictionary
  4. Apples to Apples
  5. Yahtzee
  6. Chameleon
  7. Farkle
  8. TENZI

Here is a list of board games that can be played by 10 players. The great thing about these games is that it doesn’t have to be played by 10, most of them can be played by 2-4. They are, however, more fun when they are played by more players at a party.

1. Curses

In this game, a person pulls a card from the middle of the group. He or she reads the card and then “gives” it to someone else. The person who received the card does whatever the card tells them to for the entire game. The card’s directions are the “curse” given to that player. The game keeps going in this order. During the game if a player observes another player not performing one of their curses that their cards told them to do, then they can call that player out which will be a strike. Three strikes and the player is out. It goes like this until the last person is alive. A player that gets three strikes has to remember that the game isn’t over for them! Now all they have to do is focus on other players, and make sure that the other players are following their curses.

2. Codenames

I love this game! It is so fun. The gist of this game is that one person needs to lead their teammates to victory. There are two teams in this game; red and blue. In the beginning of the game, someone sets up 25 cards with random words on them. Two people, one person from each team, are the clue givers. The clue givers have a card that shows which cards in the middle they need their team to pick out, from the 25 cards in the middle. The two clue givers will provide their team with one word clues in order for them to choose the needed words.

For example, the middle cards may have a lot of words with christmas themes like tree, or lights, or presents. The person who is it, looks at the key card that has a certain layout showing which cards are blue and which are red. There are also neutral cards and one bomb card. If the bomb card is chosen by your team, you will automatically lose. So to continue with our Christmas themed words, you may have the words light and presents. If you were the clue giver you would need to get your team to choose those words with your one word clue. In this case your clue could be “Christmas,” and you would say two (meaning there are two words that related to your clue). Hopefully your team is perceptive enough to choose light and presents. So out of the example of tree or light or presents, the person who is it will need their team to get two out of those three. He or she will give one hint or Codename that can get at least one of the cards, and when you get good you can give a Codename that will be able to get two or three cards at a time. All you need to do is get all the cards that are for your group and avoid the one card that will make your team lose immediately.

3. Pictionary

This is a drawing game. I really like this game because it is fun even if you can’t draw! One person will grab a card for their team. That person who grabs the card must read what is on the card and draw it on paper or anything else you can find. The person who is drawing must get the message across without saying a word. The team must guess what the person is drawing before they can move on. The team continues to move on as long as they are guessing correctly and there is time on the timer. The team that guesses the most correctly wins the game.

4. Apples to Apples

In this game, one person is the lead player at any time. They choose the topic they want the rest of the players to talk about like guns for example. The other players must look at the cards they have and pick a card that is most related to that topic, or a card that they think they can convince the person who is it to agree with. And it continues like that until the game is over. The person who has most of the topic cards by the end of the game wins.

5. Yahtzee

This game is a classic! It can be played with a lot of people. Every player grabs a Yahtzee score sheet. Then each player rolls a dice and the person who rolls the highest number goes first. The game is played with 5 dice. Each player’s turn consists of rolling the dice up to 3 times in the hope of making 1 of 13 categories. A few examples of the categories to score are 3 of a kind, straight, full house, and Yahtzee, which is all the dice are the same number. Each player tries to fill in a score for each category, but this is not always possible depending on the rolls you get. When all players have entered a score or a zero for all 13 categories, the game ends and total scores are compared. The person with the highest score is the winner!

 6. Chameleon

This game is really fun because it is all about deceiving the other players. In the beginning of the game everyone must pick a topic card like Games. Then depending on the amount of people playing you pass out cards that have a letter on the top of the card and numbers on it as well and one card that has “you are the chameleon” card. Then someone rolls the dice and it will have a letter and a number on it. The players who aren’t the chameleon look at the topic card and see what specific topic they need to give a clue about. Then the game begins and every person has to say a one-word clue that isn’t too specific about the topic, including the chameleon. The chameleon needs to figure out what topic the other players are speaking about. After everyone says a clue, they now need to figure out who the chameleon is. If the chameleon says a good enough clue and isn’t found out, then the chameleon wins. If the chameleon can’t figure out what the topic is, and says a clue that doesn’t have anything to do with the topic, then the group may identify him or her.  If the group all agrees that the person, who said the clue that is off topic, is the chameleon, then the group wins and the chameleon loses.

7. Farkle Classic Dice Game

This game is a lot of fun! To win at Farkle you must be the player with the highest score above 10,000 points on the final round of play. Each player takes turns rolling the dice. On your turn, you roll all six dice. A 1 or a 5, three of a kind, three pairs, or a six-dice straight earn points. You must select at least one scoring die. You can then pass and bank your points, or risk the points earned this turn and roll the remaining dice.  Scoring is based on selected dice in each roll. You cannot earn points by combining dice from different rolls. If none of your dice rolled earn points, you get a Farkle. Three Farkles in a row and you lose 1,000 points. You continue rolling until you either Pass or Farkle. Then the next player rolls the six dice. Play continues until it is your turn again. Example: Your first rolls shows 1, 2, 3, 3, 5, and 6. You keep the 1 and the 5 for 150 points. You then opt to roll the remaining four dice. On that roll you get 3, 4, 4, and 5. You select the 5 and decide to Pass and bank your points. The final round starts as soon as any player reaches 10,000 or more points.

8. TENZI

In this game all players have a set of ten dice. One person flips a card and everyone else needs to pick up their dice and do whatever the card says. For example, one card might say make an animal sound until you get a tenzi (which is all ten dice showing one number like all ten dice are all ones). To get a Tenzi players roll their dice, a roll may look like this 1, 1, 1, 2, 3, 3, 4, 5, 6. The player would probably try to go for a Tenzi of 1’s. The player would put the 1’s aside and keep rolling the rest of the dice, each time putting the 1’s aside until all ten dice show a 1. All cards are different and a player must complete what is on the card with their dice until one person gets a Tenzi. The person who gets the most amount of Tenzi’s by the end of a certain amount of rounds wins.
